Love at First Script

Meet Celia Lynn, an L.A.-based voiceover artist who has been bringing scripts to life for over 30 years.

Born weighing 10 pounds 4 ounces, Celia got an early start portraying characters of a different age.  With her first wail, the maternity ward nurses declared, "This one's ready for kindergarten!"

Even before starting school at age 5, Celia was already an avid reader.  Other than needing help with a few words she couldn't "sound out", such as "Schroeder" and "Aaugh!" she had already read a complete series of books by her favorite author.

While attending school, Celia could never understand the point of passing notes in class.  Why write, she reasoned, when she could talk and leave no evidence.  With much to say and a captive listener in a desk in every direction around her, Celia's vocal cords developed at an astonishing rate!

By age 8, Celia was also excellent at reading out loud.  At the time, this was most unfortunate, as the boy who had won her heart was nearly always placed in the C reading group.  There was that one time when he improved enough to advance to the B group, but Celia's own attempts to downgrade her skills to coincide with his monumental achievement never did pass muster.  This was Celia's first lesson in "keeping it real" - a very important concept in voiceovers.

Beginning in high school (and through college and up to her mid-20's), Celia played in pit orchestras for numerous musicals.  She marveled at the abilities of the actors, but didn't have the guts to perform on stage, and she also couldn't (and still can't) fathom how the actors could memorize ALL THOSE LINES!

It was 1989, when Celia discovered a thing called voiceovers - where you could perform with nobody looking and, more importantly, you didn't have to memorize any lines.  Amazingly, you could just look at the script.  Wow, it seemed too good to be true!

With her very first voiceover audition, Celia successfully won the part!  She was chosen to record a dramatic narrative for MADD, and she instantly fell in love with the world of voiceovers.  Celia then began recording commercials and has since recorded far too many spots to count.

Starting with radio stations throughout southern California, she then branched out across the country.  Back then, it would've been hard to imagine how the internet would expand the voiceover marketplace the way it has.  With Celia's home studio, she is recording audio projects for people she's never met, in countries she's never been.  So wherever you are... Celia's voice is going to reach you!

In order to better serve her clients, Celia has chosen to work Non-Union.

She enjoys each voiceover opportunity and looks forward to working with you!  Like Geppetto with Pinocchio, Celia finds breathing life into words that lie dormant on a page, to be a tremendously fulfilling experience.

Striving for Excellence

Celia believes it's important to always seek to improve -- especially in her chosen field. That's why Celia's Voice Over Training is ongoing.  She continues to participate in voice over workshops and seminars focusing on various aspects of VO performance.  By virtue of being based in Los Angeles, Celia has had the privilege of receiving valuable instruction, advice, and tips from some of the top names in the VO industry.
